Straws in the water for Ed Bocote A CHALLENGE? not a good example

Straws in the water A CHALLENGE ? not a good example. Ed Bocote wanted to see what happens if we stick straws in the water facing forwards. We were hoping we might get jets of water shooting out of them as the boat goes forward. It doesn't seem to work using my boat so I did some tests in the kitchen sink. I don't think it will work but I am more than happy to see somebody demonstrate it will or even prove it mathematically.
THE AIM OF THE CHALLENGE
The original request I received assumed that sticking a straw in the water at an angle would automatically cause the water to shoot up the straw and exit as a jet of water from the top so that is what we are aiming for. I cannot see that happening and I suspect the boat would need to be travelling extremely fast to get any significant height. Using a pump is not an option as that will work regardless of the speed of the boat. It needs to be some sort of passive method that relies on the forward motion of the boat. Placing a tube behind the propeller is excluded as that would be working like a pump.
