Straws in the water A CHALLENGE ?

Straws in the water A CHALLENGE ? Ed Bocote wanted to see what happens if we stick straws in the water facing forwards. We were hoping we might get jets of water shooting out of them as the boat goes forward. It doesn't seem to work using my boat so I did some tests in the kitchen sink. I don't think it will work but I am more than happy to see somebody demonstrate it will or even prove it mathematically.

Generally my projects are for my grandchildren to enjoy. OK, I enjoy them too. If anybody else likes them, that is a bonus. I like to keep my work as simple and basic as possible so that it can be copied easily and improved by anybody who wants to try themselves. I recycle or repurpose items rather than buy new and when I do buy I like to keep it cheap.
