For 17 years this channel has bought you some of the best RC plane videos on YouTube, direct from the Tokoroa Airfield in New Zealand. Those videos have been seen over 100 million times and naturally this has provide a huge amount of promotion for the town and the district.

Sadly, this could be the last RC model flying video I film at the airfield thanks to the "experts" at the local South Waikato District Council who believe that they know far better than me, what's safe and what's not -- when it comes to flying RC planes at an airfield.

Forget my impeccable record of safety, forget the intrinsic safety of the hobby, forget that I've been flying here for almost 20 years without any safety incidents related to that flying. No, the bureaucrats have spoken and, despite almost every other activity (including full-sized aviation) resulting in serious injuries -- my RC flying is deemed to be too unsafe to allow.

My sympathies go out to the local businesses who have benefited from the visitors that came here solely to see the airfield and the (now demolished) Tower. It looks like there will now be no reason for anyone to come to Tokoroa in future.

Yes... there will be more RC model/drone videos on this channel because I do have a trove of old unpublished footage from days-past. I will also be flying outlaw around the district -- because that is now my only option. So many SD cards will be found in the grass :-)
