Just two decades ago, RC helicopters were almost unattainable due to their high cost and almost unflyable due to their inherent instability. But that all changed about 15 years ago.

The E-flite Blade CX was introduced in late 2005 as an easier-to-fly alternative to E-flite's Blade CP, also introduced in 2005. The CX is an entry level, ready-to-fly electric micro RC helicopter designed and distributed by E-flite, a division of Horizon Hobby of Champaign, Illinois, USA:

The Picoo Z, a tiny 10-gram 2-channel electric helicopter from Silverlit Toys, was released in the summer of 2006, and was an instant hit. This little heli was also sold under the brand name of Air Hogs Havoc Heli in North America:

My RC helicopter adventure started with the Air Hogs Reflex 3-channel helicopter back in 2007, which also sparked and fueled the whole electric RC aircraft obsession with me. This little electric RC heli was a present from my younger cousin Asena (whom I refer to as my little brother), so you can say that he is the cause of all this craziness today! I had so much fun with this little heli that I ended up getting a used E-flite Blade CX2 later, and the rest is history...

However, I never fully got into RC helicopters... that is, until now! I have been flying RC airplanes for over a decade, but I have been practicing on and gaining experience with helicopters only in the last year or so. My goal for 2022 is to get to a level to be able to do flips on small 3D helicopters without crashing. I also would like to get to a level where I will be able to fly my three old, non-stabilized, collective-pitch (CP) RC helicopters without destroying them (because by now they are antiques, and I would like to keep them as mantel pieces after successfully achieving my goal).

This XK K127 Eagle 4-channel gyro-stabilized micro helicopter is going to be one of my indoor and outdoor trainers on my journey of becoming a better RC helicopter pilot. Thanks to its altitude hold function, I can concentrate on my orientation skills. Since it has a selector for low and high rates, I can fly it indoors, as well as outdoors in light winds.

I purchased this helicopter from AliExpress for US$49.02 shipped to my door:

In this first video, I am doing its unboxing, initial setup, and a short indoor flight to test its flight envelope. I am also comparing it to another very similar RC helicopter, an Eachine E129, side by side. In the next video, I will be performing its outdoor flight, while also testing its endurance with its fully-charged battery.

Thank you very much for watching. I hope this review was fun and informative for you. If you liked it, please hit that like button and consider subscribing to our channel, so you do not miss the upcoming videos. Enjoy the RC hobby and stay safe and healthy.
