Nach den positiven Flugerfahrungen mit dem Horten-9 V1-Segler folgte der Entwurf der angetriebenen Horten-9 in Form der V3 mit den größeren Schubrohren. Doch hat das original Design Probleme mit der Anordnung der Schubrohren die besonders bei den über-powerten RC-Modellen spürbar werden und zu Abstürzen führt. Viele Test und Änderungen im aerodynamischen Layout und den Schubrohren führten schließlich beim dritten Prototypen, der Horten IX V3p3 zu akzeptablen Ergebnissen: ohne Rohrverlängerungen gehen 120-140 km/h. mit kleinen 8cm-Röhrchen wurden über 260km/h geflogen. Das Video zeigt einen Abendflug mit der V3p2 und 8cm Röhrchen am Ende der Schubrohre. Die Steuerung erfolgt über insgesamt zwei Servos und einen einfachen Deltamischer.

... an aircraft developed during WW2. Having the positive flight experience with the Horten-9 V1 glider, the design of the powered Horten-9 V3 followed. But the original design has problems with the arrangement of the thrust pipes, which are particularly noticeable on the overpowered RC models. Many tests and changes in the aerodynamic design and the thrust tubes finally led to acceptable results with the third prototype, the so called Horten IX V3p3: without tube extensions, 120 to 140 km/h were possible. With small 8cm thrust pipe extensions over 260 km/h were flown. The video shows an evening flight with the V3p2 and 8cm short tube extensions at the end of the thrust pipes. No fins etc. are used at this airplane and elevons/ailes are done via 2 servos and a simple delta mixer at the remote control.
