This is version two of my ongoing VTOL F-35 project. This version is much more compact and offers full stabilization and thrust vectoring in forward flight, giving incredible maneuverability and aerobatic capacity for a parkjet of this size. The end goal of this project is to release plans and easy to understand flight control code so you can build one yourself.

The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a single-seat, single-engine, all-weather stealth multirole combat aircraft. It is intended to perform both air superiority and strike missions while also providing electronic warfare and intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance capabilities. The aircraft has three main variants: the conventional takeoff and landing F-35A (CTOL), the short take-off and vertical-landing F-35B (STOVL), and the carrier-based F-35C (CV/CATOBAR).

This radio controlled model uses electric propulsion and a clever layout to achieve vertical takeoff and landing (VTOL) abilities. In hover, the vehicle acts much like a tricopter. In forward flight, the front lifting fan is disabled, and the two rear motors are vectored forward. Once in forward flight, this model flies like any other foam parkjet RC aircraft. Elevon control surfaces and differential thrust allow for full roll, pitch, and yaw control authority. Power consumption is significantly reduced in forward flight and hence much longer flight times are possible as compared to simple multirotor platforms.
