My favorite arcade racer ever, R4: Ridge Racer Type 4. With its simple yet challenging driving, endearing Namco-themed visuals and unforgettable soundtrack, it's an absolute classic and perhaps one of the PS1's best racing titles. The visuals are particularly stellar for PS1, as the game makes use of Gouraud Shading, and the models and textures are of exceptional quality given the hardware limitations.

In this video I complete GP mode driving for R.C. Micro Mouse Mappy in Age Solo cars. MMM is the Easy difficulty team, and as such, a run of GP with them is a cakewalk, thanks to the tight and responsive handling and low top speeds that make the cars very manageable and thus very beginner-friendly. Regardless of what manufacturer you pick, you're often able to power through turns with grip at full speed that other teams' cars would otherwise need to lift or drift through, a good example being the curvy complex and tunnel exit on Out of Blue just after the sharp 90-degree turn by the cargo ship. While it is possible to full-throttle grip these sections with other teams, it's much easier to pull off with MMM as your line doesn't have to be nearly as precise.

Age Solo is the second of the grip-type manufacturers available in game, the other being Terrazi. They're the overall slowest manufacturer in the game, with the tradeoff being superior handling capabilities that makes the brand beginner-friendly, and also compliments MMM's easy tunes. While this is the perfect setup for beginners, this combination is ultimately the slowest possible in the game, with MMM's tunes and Age's focus on handling over speed resulting in the races really dragging until you reach Stage 3.

An interesting tidbit of trivia is that in promotional material for R4, MMM is always shown using Lizard as their manufacturer, but in game if you are to pick a team other than MMM and then select a maker other than Age Solo, MMM will drive Age Solo cars. This is the opposite for Dig Racing Team, the Expert difficulty team, as they are shown to use Age Solo in promo material yet will always drive Lizard cars if Lizard is not chosen in GP.
