OPFTL RC Plane from Cheap RC Toy Parts BETTER (uncut). OLD PROJECTS FROM THE LOFT

The original purpose of this plane was to try and make a flying RC aeroplane using the components from a cheap RC toy car. That was a failure on 2 counts. First the range available with a cheap RC toy car system is a few metres at best so you have to chase after the aircraft to keep control. Second - the motors in those cheap RC toy cars are just not powerful enough to keep the plane in the air, the best I achieved was an extended glide. After I had given up on that idea I fitted a hobby grade receiver, a single servo to control the rudder, a brushed ESC, and the motor from a toy hovercraft which was just that bit more powerful than all the toy car motors I had tried. In that format we were actually able to see the aircraft was capable of flying and I put the project into storage. This week I got it back out again, duct taped a small 2S LiPo and matching ESC and took it out for a test flight. Unfortunately I decided to take another plane with me and chose to use a different transmitter so I could control them both and forgot this one needed the rudder control reversed - BAD MOVE. A bit of Gorilla Glue and we are back for another try.
