Assembly was very straight forward with the Futura. Screw in 8 bolts with a 2mm allen key drive and you are done. Once the FrSky X8R receiver was installed and the TX16S setup it was time to head to the flying field.

All my current EDF jets use 4-Max 6S6000 60C packs. Although normally larger than the recommended pack size for any jet they provide more power and longer flight times at the expense of some agility due to the additional weight. You will see in the video that to get the recommended CG balance point the 6S6000 pack had to be much further forward than the designed battery tray. I added some more velcro to the forward foam section of the fuselage battery bay as only the forward strap could wrap over the back of the 6S6000 pack. The canopy would not close so I had to cut out significant foam to allow it to close.

Concerns over the overall weight of the model with this big pack disappeared as soon as the Futura left the ground. Balance was perfect as the wheels lifted and I took one circuit to trim out for level flight before exploring fast and slow flight with some mild aerobatics in between. The larger battery only compromised knife edge flight. The Futura needs to be at high speed before the side of the jet and rudder at full deflection will keep the jet at level attitude. Moving the pack slightly back may help.

Stable slow flight was quite surprising. With half flap the Futura slows up nicely for slow low passes and full flap on final approach results in a nice mains touch down for landing.

We filmed one more flight with the same setup for Jason filming the race drone chase video with the latest DJI goggles 2 and DJI O3 FPV air unit. Slow flight mostly as his race drone could not keep up with the Futura at full throttle.

In conclusion this jet flies extremely well on a 6S6000 pack. Much lighter than I expected. The recommended CG balance point would be difficult to achieve with smaller/lighter packs. So maybe larger packs are the optimum. Recommend looking at what other packs owners have used on the RCGroups thread.
