While at a recent event, I caught up with my friend Corsair Nut and his ginormous scratch-built T-38. They were doing a speed challenge, so he popped in 13s into the airframe and gave it a go to see what kind of speeds the airplane would do. I tell you what, it was cookin' down wind. It's a huge model and it looked fast, so that gives you an idea, haha! The airplane weighs 45lb and is 12ft long which makes it a little larger than 1/4 scale. Power comes from 2x 120mm E-Turbax Electric Ducted Fans (available from jethangar.com) with each fan typically powered by 12cells and 8000 mah batteries (5500+ watts per fan). The airplane was scratch-built completely from foam, fiberglass, carbon fiber, balsa and plywood from enlarged 3-view drawings.
