Flying from the cockpit view ! FPV Airwolf RC Helicopter | Caddx Walksnail Avatar HD FPV

After upgrading the FlyWing FW450 v3 to an Airwolf fuselage it was time to do my first FPV conversion of an RC helicopter. It was very easy to install the Avatar FPV system. I just needed to add a DuPont connector to the power cable from the VTX so that I could plug it into the balance plug for the flight battery. I mounted the Avatar camera on the battery tray release clip as it provided the best possible view through the front windows I cut in the canopy. This FPV is very light compared to its competitors making it ideal for this project.

It was apparent during first flight that there was some vibration. After discussing with Jason, our resident RC Helo expert, we agreed it was probably down to the balance of the blades and possibly the tracking. After balancing the blades the second flight still had vibration. It is not possible to change the tracking but we think it was very close anyway. For the third flight I solid mounted the camera and the vibration almost disappeared ! During the last flight I only briefly wore the FPV goggles to check the quality of the view while the helicopter was in automated circuit mode. FPV Airwolf will be back soon for a full FPV mission.
