Cartoon Top Gun Jet ! Radio Controlled (RC) 'FATTIE' F-14 FIGHTER JET | Low Passes and Bad Landing!

My second flight with the original pusher version of the Fattie F-14 from our new friends at Enjoy2Fly. This kit is a cartoon inspired version of an F-14 fighter jet. In addition to the kit you will need a transmitter, receiver and 4S3500 to 5000 flight battery. The kit features retractable landing gear, the nose gear has gear doors. Also included is a gyro stabilisation system.

Assembly is very quick. Just follow the simple instructions. Glue is not included and I used UHU POR. CG is critical on this model so use the marks under the wings near the leading edge of the wing to get the balance correct before flying.

Things went really well on this flight, with some nice fast low passes for Bob on camera, until the landing. It's apparent this model has a relatively high wing loading which means you have to land quite fast to avoid stalling. The danger with landing fast on grass is that if you hit any bumps or don't arrive with level wings you can get pitched back up into the air only to land like a three wheeled shopping trolley. As a result I broke the nose gear doors, bent the nose gear pin and snapped one main gear pin I think the gyro stabilisation could help a lot with this so will try that next time ! Time to convert it to EDF I think. The conversion kit is on the way. I plan to remove the landing gear and use the convenient launch handle on the underbelly.
