The Ilyushin Il-62 was the first long-range commercial aircraft in the Soviet Union to be equipped with jet engines. It is the successor to the Tupolev Tu-114. The Il-62's first flight was in January 1963, and on March 10, 1967 the first aircraft went into service with the Soviet airline Aeroflot.
