I have finally received my Losi DBXL and I'm taking it out for a spin. It has been a long wait for me to get my hands on one of these rides after missing out on the first batch, but it's here!

I'm at our local bashing spot with a few buddies, they are running everything from HPI Bajas to MCD's, it's great fun to have such a great variety of vehicles to compare the characteristics of each and every one.

I will try to give you the most honest review of this vehicle that you have seen to this date. I'm no stranger to 5th scale RC's, this will be the 7th large scale RC that I add to my collection. And I know it's fairly entry level, but do you get value for money? There are more than a few points that could definitely use some improving and upgrading, which isn't strange with a ready to run car, but I do feel there are a few issues that I would have liked to seen addressed before my car actually passed quality control.

The overall looks and the materials used don't really manage to put a smile on my face. The quality level is in no way to be compared to the Losi 5ive-T. Seeing that the DBXL lacks the pedigree to be labelled a true Losi, this isn't too strange, but I do feel it is something a potential buyer should be aware of.

As an entry level 5th scale it is a welcome addition to what is already available on the market. At the same time I would suggest those who are looking to really get a jaw dropping 4wd large scale car, to save up the extra money and go for the Losi 5ive-T. A comparison between the 2 can't be made since they are cars of a total different stature, and for that reason I'm also still of the opinion that Horizon Hobby would have been wiser to place the DBXL under the Vaterra brand instead of calling it a Losi.
