The compact sedan and coupe in the Lexus car range include the IS sedan and RC coupe. The coupe can also be purchased with higher performance version called RC-f. The Lexus brand continues to be at the top of quality ratings, resale value guides and owner satisfaction. Lexus knows how to build a quality product that delivers year after year. Lexus, once knocked for being boring, has amped up the design and performance of its cars in recent years.

Unlike the RC, the IS is sold as a less powerful base model with RWD only. This car has a 2.0L turbocharged 4-cylinder with 241hp. The majority of buyers choose either the IS300 or 350 with 255hp or 306hp respectively. These cars come with standard AWD. The RC coupe is sold with as the RC300 and 350, they too have the same HP and standard AWD. The RC F is a high performance model with a 5.0L V8 and 467hp

The vast majority of buyers choose the base V6 engine and it is rated at 12.6L/100km in the city and just 9.2L on the highway.
The standard Safety includes front, side and curtain airbags, plus knee air bags. along with traction and stability control. Advanced safety feature include BLIS and cross traffic alert but only on the top model. Toyota and Lexus have committed to include forward collision with autonomous braking on its entire car lineup and it is included here.

One area Lexus excels is interior refinement, fit and finish. The interior is edgy and , with a sporty cockpit design and a mixture of textures. The standard screen size is 7-inches or available 10.3-inch screen. These cars come standard with heated leather seats. There are numerous packages for interior upgrades but all get a centre mounted controller to activate the infotainment system. This setup is rather dated now in comparison to some competitors.

A base IS sedan starts at roughly $40,000 for the turbo 4-cylinder. The base V6 starts at $43,000. The RC coupe starts at $49,000. The high performance RC-F starts at $85,000.

Lexus has carved a name for itself as a builder of high quality, long lasting cars with amazing resale value. The IS offers some good value but this sedan is small compared to many competitors, plus it is getting rather dated. The RC is proving that Lexus can be edgy and sporty in a velvety smooth package.
