E-flite Timber - Plane & Flight Review

The E-flite Timber is an Almost Ready to Fly (ARF) RC model airplane. The plane is made from a tough foam that resists dings and damage. All parts come complete. You just connect the two wing halves, add the horizontal tail surfaces, screw in place the landing gear and add a receiver and battery to go fly. All the electronics (motor, ESC and six servos) are installed.

The plane weighs around 3.9 lbs, just the right size for an everyday flier at your RC field. The plane flies smoothly with no surprises.

I made two changes to my E-flite Timber. First, I removed the stick-on decal scheme with an Xacto 11 blade and ironed in place Coverite covering. The results were very good. The foam is tough enough accept the covering without any damage. I added decorative decals bought on eBay.

The second change was the addition of a Safe Start device to prevent the engine from accidentally starting until I press and hold a consent switch. The Safe Start is easy to install and could well prevent an injury some day.

In summary the E-flite Timber is a well designed and professionally produced ARF RC model airplane. I would recommend it to anyone past their first RC trainer aircraft.
