Unmanned flying vehicles and remote control airplanes are the thing of the future and they’re being used more often then you’d think. Whether it’s a large RC plane made for civilians or the massive, experimental planes built by the US government here are the biggest RC planes ever made./

But first, we’d like to give a quick shout out to our viewers for letting us know which sword they will choose during the zombie apocalypse, We know it’s a tough choice so we appreciate the amount of thought you took deciding

10. Dassault Neuron
It might be displayed at Air shows in France currently and it’s apart of a program by several european countries to make drones a “combat drone” equipped with nuclear weapons! It’s almost like the military enjoys playing with RC planes as well. This experimental aircraft looks like a miniature version of a B2 bomber and is equipped with stealth technology. It takes more of the shape of a plane than a drone in any case and is worth about 25 million euros each. Weighing over 10,000 pounds it’s certainly no lightweight and can put on even more weight at a full capacity of bombs. The wingspan measures 41 feet long or 12.5 meter and measures 31 feet or 9.5 meters from nose to to tail.

9. RQ-4 Global Hawk
This unmanned aerial surveillance vehicle is one the largest of it’s kind and is still currently used by the US military. It’s set a few records for the longest pilotless flight in 2001 by flying over the entire pacific ocean. It’s quite impressive to also know that it flew for 33.1 hours straight at an altitude of 60,000 feet. The last longest flight took place and clocked in at 33.5 hours. So needless to say these things can fly for a while. It almost makes you wonder if commercial pilots might be out of business soon. It can reach a maxspeed of 391 miles an hour and can cruise at 357 miles an hour. It’s wingspan measures 130.9 feet or 39.9 feet. While not carrying any missiles or other cargo it weighs nearly 15 thousand pounds or 6,800 kilograms for those unamericans. The price for this heavyweight makes it basically only available for the military which each unit costing 222.7 million dollars each which more than 3 times the original cost in 2001

8. X-47B
With a wingspan of 62 feet or about 19 meters, this aircraft almost seems big enough to have a pilot but it doesn’t. This was built by the engineering company northrop grumman and it’s another cool remote controlled plane. It was specifically designed to land on aircraft, has foldable wings and is utilised by the navy. Here in this clip we can see it getting refueled in midair which gives it a virtually unlimited range. The first flight took place at edwards air force base and it flew quite well during demonstrations. However after the tests were over, the navy kind of felt like they were too expensive and the stealth capabilities weren’t exactly what they were looking for. They decided to keep the

7. Fx-61 Flying Wing
This one is available for civilian use and is pretty big considering the 5 foot wingspan. It allows for first person view while flying, so it’s almost like your right there in the cockpit! Some construction is required but as long as you got some glue it should be fine. You’ll need a remote control and make sure you don’t drop it. It’s said that it has it has excellent stability and can fly for a duration of 30 means before it needs to land. No mid air refueling for this remote control plane. It weighs only 2 pounds making the wind a little bit of an issue but you can always keep an eye on the weather conditions
