weighs about 100-lb dry.
she was built by the late Colin Hammond.

"Vera".......built by Colin Hammond, this was one of three built by Colin from Tony Nijhous original drawings. Two were finished and I ended up with an uncovered fully built one. Because I was working away from home a lot this stayed like that until Colin’s own model came up for sale.

I sold mine to another LMA member and bought this one. I collected it from Colin, it was sad to see him carrying the parts he could lift down his path into my van, this model meant an awful lot to him.
The model itself is now available from SLEC on special order. Over the years I’ve owned the Lancaster I’ve replaced the batteries and some servos as time and use have taken effect. The wings became quite dull recently and I cut the surface back with some abrasive and then polished it, after the rain at Weston Park it needs doing again.

My model is guided by Futaba 12fg And has two 14 channel RX splitting the control system in two giving the required redundancy. The Lancaster has four Zenoah 38cc engines on 20x8 wooden propellers and half litre fuel tanks. The undercarriage is a normal air operated system just a bit bigger with two air tanks to provide enough air for a reliable system.
I’ve owned the Lancaster around six years now and hope to have many more years flying with it.
